St. Michael Prayer

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do, thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan and all of the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Glory to God in the Highest!

Are You a Sinner?

If you are my age,
and
you went to Catholic School,
you
KNEW
what
sin
was.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church,
"Sin is an Offense Against God."

Did you know it's a sin to miss Mass on Sunday, without extenuating circumstances?

Did you know it's a sin to gossip?

Did you know it's a sin to have sex out of wedlock?

Did you know it's a sin when you don't put God in first place?

I would posit, that when it comes to sin, most of us don't realize that we are committing sin each and every day.

There are two types of sin:
venial and mortal.

A mortal sin can cause us to loose heaven.

What is a mortal sin?

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, for a sin to be a mortal sin,
"...three conditions must together be met: "Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent."

For example, murder, premeditated murder, would be a mortal sin.
Abortion is a mortal sin.
To plan and execute a murder is the commission of a mortal sin.

If you didn't know that deliberately missing Mass on Sunday is a mortal sin,
you might not be committing a mortal sin,
however,
now you know.

When it comes to sin, though, there is hope.

WE ARE ALL GRIEVOUS SINNERS!

Let me say that once again:

WE ARE ALL GRIEVOUS SINNERS!

As Catholics, we have the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
This gift from God is an Act of Divine Mercy to His Children.

The Priest, through his anointing in the Sacrament of Holy Orders, is given the ability to forgive our sins on earth.
When we confess our sins, in this amazing Sacrament, with a sincere and contrite heart

WE ARE FORGIVEN!!!!
 The slate is wiped clean.

God is Kind and Merciful!

Yada Yada Yada...
but
IT'S TRUE!

God loved us so much that He sent His Own Divine Son to die for our sins so that we might have the gift of eternal life.

So, what to do.
1) Recognize that we are miserable sinners.
2) Learn what is sinful.
3) Seek reconciliation using the Sacraments of the Church.
4) Change your ways.

You will find a peace that this world cannot give,
that only God can give.

Let us pray for each other.
I will pray for you.
Please pray for me.
